DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Bawa

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the release of former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.

The State Security Service made the confirmation in a terse statement published on its “X” (formerly Twitter) handle, @OfficialDSSNG, in the late hours of Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

In the statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications of DSS, Mr. Peter Afunanya, at its National Headquarters in Abuja, the agency said:

“DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago (today 25th October, 2023).”

News Band had reported that Mr. Bawa was released after over 134 days in detention following his arrest on June 14.
