DSS vs Ekiti Assembly: National Assembly c’tee arrives Ado Ekiti

The joint senate and House of Representatives committees set up by the national assembly Tuesday arrived Ado Ekiti on a fact finding mission.

Chairman of the senate committee on security and leader of the delegation, Senator Muhammed Shaba Lafiaji who spoke with newsmen after the committee paid a courtesy visit to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose in his office said the committee is in the state to get the facts about what actually transpired between the DSS and the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

It would be recalled that armed men of the DSS on Friday, 4th of March invaded and subsequently abducted 4 members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

“The national assembly was concerned by what happened in Ekiti State recently and simultaneously, motions were moved in the senate and House of Representatives showing concerns over what has happened.

“The two arms directed the committees on security and intelligence of the senate and house to go into the details of what happened, in our wisdom, we thought we should combine our efforts so we decided to come out with a joint committee and that’s why we came out here.

“Basically, what we’ve come to do is some fact finding, no more, no less. We have gone round, we’ve seen the commissioner of police, we have seen the director of SSS, we have gone to the house of assembly and we are here to show our respect to the governor of Ekiti”, Sen. Lafiaji said.

Governor Ayodele Fayose who welcomed the national assembly members on behalf of the good people of Ekiti State said he wouldn’t want to make any comment, ask questions or interfere with the committee’s mission thanked them for assisting in the challenges of Ekiti.

Other member of the committee are Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji(Zamfara), Hon. Isa Hassan (Bauchi), Hon. Eucharia Azodo(Anambra), Hon. Dyegh John(Benue), Sen. Paulka Emmanuel (Bayelsa), Sen. Laah Danjuma and Hon. Diri Duoye(Bayelsa).
