Edo Guber: INEC uploads over 86% of results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) appears to have made reasonable progress in uploading results from the ongoing Edo State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).

At the time of filing this report, 3,902 out of the 4,519 results have been uploaded, representing 86.35% completion.

Meanwhile, speaking with Arise Television on Saturday, Anugbum Onuoha, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, assured that the commission would electronically transmit the election results.

He stressed that only network challenges could potentially delay the process.

INEC has implemented contingency measures, including the deployment of backup devices, to ensure a smooth process.

“We have deployed 4,622 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices to the various local governments, and we have 660 additional backup units,” Onuoha stated.

The BVAS system is designed to verify voter identities and accurately record the number of voters at each polling unit.

“We are conducting an election that will be a source of pride, and we are determined to deliver transparent results.”

The governorship election, held on Saturday across the 18 local government areas of the state.
