The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has urged Nigerian youths to reject internet fraud and pursue honest ventures.

Speaking at the Delta Youth Parliament event in Asaba, he underscored the dangers of cybercrime and its detrimental effects on Nigeria’s reputation.

During the “Regional Youth Convergence on Internal Security and Digital Innovation,” Olukoyede emphasized Nigeria’s immense potential in both natural and human resources.

He praised the youth for their intelligence and resilience; however, he lamented that some jeopardize their future through fraudulent activities.

His message was conveyed by Benin Zonal Director, ACE I Effa Okim.

“Our youths possess creativity and the ability to achieve global excellence,” he stated. “Nevertheless, internet fraud tarnishes our nation and deters potential investors.”

He warned that cybercrime stifles innovation, weakens industries, and harms economic growth. The EFCC remains committed to prosecuting offenders without leniency.

Amukoyo Onome, the planning chairman of the event, clearly articulated the summit’s primary goal: uniting youth leaders.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of collaboration among policymakers and security experts to tackle cybercrime effectively.

This initiative aims not only to combat cybercrime but also to boost digital innovation across the region.

Consequently, attendees engaged in discussions about strategies that enhance security and empower young Nigerians, particularly in the Niger Delta.

In addition, Olukoyede passionately urged youths to embrace hard work, highlighting that shortcuts often lead to ruin.

He firmly stated, “Fraud destroys lives and national progress,” which underscores the detrimental effects of economic crimes.

Meanwhile, the EFCC continues its relentless crackdown on these crimes while simultaneously promoting legitimate opportunities for growth and development.

Stakeholders unanimously agreed that education, enforcement, and youth engagement are crucial elements in curbing fraud.

Ultimately, Nigeria’s future hinges on harnessing the potential of its young talent—ethically and productively, paving the way for a brighter tomorrow.

As discussions wrapped up, participants left with a unified message: reject crime, build skills, and contribute to a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.

The EFCC issued a firm warning—fraudsters will face justice, while those who choose integrity will thrive.

This commitment to ethical behavior is vital for national progress and stability.

The Delta Youth Parliament’s initiative marks a crucial step in reshaping youth mindset and securing Nigeria’s digital future.

With sustained efforts, the fight against cybercrime can turn the tide toward progress and innovation.
