Enugu govt places indefinite ban on tricycle task-force

The Enugu State Government has dissolved all Tricycle Task-force operating in the state with immediate effect.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport in the state, Chief Ogbonnia Idike, gave the directive in Enugu.

Idike said the affected task-force include both legal and illegal ones.

The ban followed a peaceful protest by operators of tricycle popularly known as, Keke, in Enugu on Friday against unscrupulous elements constituting themselves into nuisance in parts of the city in the name of task-force.

The Keke operators also complained of the unwholesome attitude of illegal task-force who indulge in extortion, snatching of Keke and kidnapping.

The Permanent Secretary maintained that Keke had no bus stops in Enugu and therefore can pick passengers from any spot.

He disclosed that the ministry was not aware of any task-force for keke riders

He enjoined the tricycle operators to conduct their businesses peacefully and shun any act capable of truncating the peace of the state.
