Gunmen have abducted an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Emeason Chima, in Nsukka, Enugu State.

Chima, who is stationed at the Ugbokolo unit (RS4.211) of the agency, was reportedly abducted on Saturday near Maduka University along the Nsukka-Enugu Road by the criminal elements.

NewsBand gathered that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million for his release.

An officer of FRSC who doesn’t want to be quoted, said Chima was alone in his car when the attackers struck.

Meanwhile, an internal memo from the FRSC confirmed the abduction, noting that the kidnappers used the victim’s phone to make their demands.

“The Command is in receipt of information about the kidnap of SRMA Emeason Chima,” said Emmanuel Al-Hassan, the Ugbokolo unit commander, in the memo.

“Location of incident: After Maduka University, along the Nsukka-Enugu Road via Opi Junction, Enugu State. Initial reports indicate that the officer was driving a Toyota saloon car alone at the time of the incident.

“The unit commander has been contacted by the kidnappers through the officer’s phone, with a ransom demand of N50 million. Further developments will be communicated as events unfold. This is for your information and guidance, sir,” the memo added.
