No fewer than seven persons have lost their lives after operatives of the Nigerian Army opened fire on villagers of Kwanar Farakwai in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who attempted to capture kidnappers, SaharaReporters gathered.

On Wednesday, kidnappers invaded the village in an attempt to abduct some villagers but youths armed with weapons pursued the criminals.

A source, who spoke with SaharaReporters, said the kidnappers hid in a rock close to the town and the youths, who went after them in a bid to capture them, surrounded the rock.

Unfortunately, a company which houses its staff in the area had contacted some soldiers who, rather than ask questions, shot at the youths gathered at the place, the source said.

Initially, three persons died instantly while 10 of them, who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital.

In a later development, four of those taken to the hospital also lost their lives while the remaining six are still in the hospital.

The source said: “Yesterday, kidnappers entered the community; when the kidnappers entered the town, the youths of the town stopped the kidnappers from operating.
