Ese Brume Gets Heroic Welcome By Her Turkish School For Winning IAAF Medal

Nigerian athlete, Ese Brume was given heroic welcome by her Turkish school for winning bronze at the just concluded World Athletics Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Brume was welcomed by her school Eastern Mediterrean University, on her return from the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) competition.

The Delta-born Africa’s reigning long jumper won Nigeria’s only medal at the event after leaping 6.91 metres on Sunday to win Bronze.

Two fully loaded buses having the schools Sports personal/Manager Mr Cemal Konnolu, his personal assistants and some students, were chartered to pick up Ese at the Ercan Airport (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus).

The students waited outside anxiously at the airport before her arrival with banner that read “WE ARE PROUD OF YOU”.

As she arrived, they erupted in a song “You’re the best, you’re the best Ese Brume….”

Beside her on her arrival was her coach, Kayode Yaya.

In his words while chatting to the Nigeria Athletics Federation, he said:

“This is the kind of welcome we may never receive from our nation!”
