The former governor of Jigawa State, Saminu Turaki, has asked a Federal Capital Territory [FCT] High Court in Abuja to consign the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Ibrahim Magu to jail.
Governor Turaki made the request to the court citing the refusal of Magu to grant him bail in line with court order.
Recall that Turaki was arrested on July 4 on charges of money laundering by EFCC at a public function.
He was arrested after a Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, the capital city of Jigawa issued a bench warrant in 2014.
To take the wind off the sail of EFCC, the former governor dragged the anti-graft agency to court.
He asked the court to enforce his fundamental human right, saying that the period of his detention exceeded the stipulated 48 hours provided by law.
Meanwhile, EFCC has filed a motion asking the court to revoke the bail granted him.
EFCC said the bail condition is too generous.
It also said that the matter is already before the Abuja Federal High Court when the Dutse court granted him bail.
The presiding judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu adjourned until July 20 to hear the application.
