A building collapse in Egypt’s capital killed 10 people and injured eight others on Monday.

Diaspora digital media (DDM) gathered that several individuals are feared trapped under the rubble, according to state media reports.

Emergency responders, including multiple ambulances, rushed to the site in Kerdasa, a working-class neighborhood on the outskirts of Cairo.

Civil defense teams immediately began searching for survivors beneath the collapsed building.

Al-Akhbar Al-Youm newspaper reported that rescue operations were underway.

Eyewitnesses stated that the incident occurred after a gas cylinder explosion caused the building to collapse suddenly.

The explosion led to widespread panic as residents and bystanders scrambled to escape the site.

Some reported the sound of the blast echoing through the neighborhood.

Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

They are also identifying any potential safety violations.

The building was located in a densely populated area of Cairo.

Many structures in the area are aging and poorly maintained.

Cairo, a sprawling metropolis with over 26 million residents, has witnessed several deadly building collapses over the years.

Many of these incidents have been linked to deteriorating conditions and failure to comply with safety regulations.

The collapse of this building is just the latest tragedy in the city.

Authorities are working to understand whether poor construction practices or negligence contributed to the collapse.

The failure to enforce building regulations effectively across the city remains a significant concern.

Residents of Kerdasa have long raised concerns about the safety of their building structures.

Many buildings in the area have been constructed without proper oversight.

This has led to an unsafe living environment for many families.

Despite government efforts to improve safety and strengthen building codes, enforcement remains inconsistent in working-class neighborhoods.

As search operations continue, local residents remain on edge.

They fear more people are trapped beneath the rubble of the building.

Rescue teams are working tirelessly to locate survivors.

Authorities have not confirmed how many people remain missing.

Past building collapses in Egypt have often been linked to unauthorized construction.

Substandard materials and lack of proper maintenance are also factors.

These issues are exacerbated by rapid urbanization and population growth in Cairo.

This puts significant pressure on the city’s infrastructure.

Experts believe that stricter enforcement of building regulations could have prevented such tragedies.

The latest collapse highlights the urgent need for stronger safety measures.

Better oversight in construction practices is necessary across Cairo.

Authorities continue their investigation, but the incident serves as a reminder of the risks posed by neglected structures.

Stronger regulatory measures and proper urban planning are crucial.

These are necessary to prevent future loss of life and ensure residents’ safety in Egypt’s urban centers.
