Farotimi Blasts Tinubu’s Diaspora Supporters

Legal activist and outspoken critic of the current Nigerian government, Dele Farotimi, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s supporters living abroad.

He called them the “most dangerous batidiots”, accusing them of blind loyalty rooted in ethnic and religious prejudice.

In a fiery post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Farotimi claimed that these diaspora supporters often ignore reality because they are far removed from Nigeria’s hardship.

“The most dangerous batidiots are the ones in the diaspora. Ignorance does not explain the idiocy of their choices. Ethno-religious prejudices are almost always the precursors for their embrace of the madness,” he wrote.

Farotimi’s remarks have ignited debate online, with many users echoing his sentiments.

A user with the handle @samsodyn said these individuals are uninformed yet influential, describing their loyalty as harmful.

“They live far away, yet they push toxic ideologies. They don’t suffer the consequences, but they want to control the narrative,” he noted.

Another user, @6thBlord_Surker, expressed dismay at what he saw as a contradiction.

“They left Nigeria for a better life but now tell us to embrace the same chaos they ran from,” he posted.

These reactions follow a pattern of growing resentment toward the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration and its global defenders.

Critics argue that while Nigerians at home endure inflation, insecurity, and fuel price hikes, those abroad cheer the regime without understanding the daily struggles.

Farotimi reinforced this view by stating that blind diaspora support has helped sustain a failing administration.

“They enable incompetence. They romanticize oppression from afar,” he said.

He emphasized that the APC government has failed to deliver good governance.

He blamed the regime for deepening poverty, mismanaging the economy, and suppressing dissent.

“This bankrupt government has caused the nation an unbearable quagmire. Supporting it from abroad is both reckless and cruel,” he added.

Farotimi also warned that history will remember not just those who ruled, but also those who cheered them on  especially when their cheerleading came from the safety of foreign countries.
