FCT taskforce commences massive demolition of ‘illegal’ shops

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello has directed the immediate demolition of illegal corner shops in Utako.

Bulldozers of the FCT Administration are demolishing the shops while traders are running around to salvage the what they can from their stuff.

Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to FCT Minister, Comrade Ikharo Attah, who is leading the FCTA demolition team, said the Minister is not happy with the sad development of illegal building in Abuja.

Attah noted the residents had taken for granted the administration’s decision to use stakeholders engagement and respect for human rights in dealing with developmental issues before any enforcement.

He bemoaned the activities by some persons that were gradually turning the Utako area to a security risk.
