The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has refuted widespread claims of initiating a fresh recruitment exercise.

This clarification comes amidst growing reports circulating on social media platforms regarding purported vacancies in the commission.

The commission, in a statement released to Diaspora digital media (DDM) on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Taiwo Hassan, categorically denied the allegations, labeling them as fictitious.

Hassan emphasized that the information did not originate from the Federal Civil Service Commission, cautioning the public to beware of fraudulent individuals spreading false information.

He reiterated that any official recruitment exercise would only be announced through the commission’s official website or widely recognized national newspapers.

“The attention of the FCSC has been drawn to information making the rounds on various media platforms about advertised vacancies and recruitments in the commission,” the statement read.

“The commission unequivocally declares that the information containing the commission’s website and the name of the director (recruitment and appointment) did not emanate from the commission.

It is fictitious and should be disregarded.”

This clarification has become necessary as reports of recruitment fraud have surged in recent years, with individuals falsely claiming to represent the commission.

These scams often exploit the public’s trust, offering fake employment opportunities to unsuspecting applicants in exchange for money.

The Federal Civil Service Commission, known for its structured and transparent recruitment process, has a long history of ensuring that employment opportunities are accessible to qualified Nigerians without favoritism or corruption.

The commission’s recruitment drives are designed to fill vacancies in the federal civil service, supporting the government’s mission of fostering efficiency and productivity in the public sector.

Traditionally, the commission’s recruitment process begins with an official announcement published on its website and reputable national dailies.

This is followed by an application phase, where eligible Nigerians are encouraged to submit their credentials.

Shortlisted candidates are invited for aptitude tests, and successful applicants proceed to oral interviews.

The entire process is closely monitored to prevent malpractice and ensure merit-based selections.

Despite these safeguards, the commission has faced challenges in combating the activities of impostors who exploit its name for fraudulent purposes.

The recent rumors of a fresh recruitment exercise are just another example of how some individuals attempt to deceive the public.

To protect potential applicants, the commission has consistently issued warnings against relying on unverified information from social media or other unofficial sources.

According to Hassan, members of the public should always verify recruitment announcements directly from the commission’s official channels.

While addressing the recruitment rumors, the commission also highlighted its recent promotion exercise, showcasing its commitment to the growth and development of civil servants.

As part of its annual promotion and evaluation process, the Federal Civil Service Commission successfully promoted 331 senior civil servants in 2024.

These promotions were the result of a rigorous selection process that began in May 2024, when the commission issued a notice for the annual evaluation exercise.

Written examinations, commonly referred to as the “local leg,” were conducted between August 12 and August 17, 2024, across various zones in the country.

Out of 697 candidates who participated in the oral interviews held on November 4, 2024, 331 officers on Grade Levels 14, 15, and 16 were deemed eligible for promotion.

The commission regards the promotion exercise as a cornerstone of its mandate to reward hard work, enhance productivity, and ensure that deserving officers advance in their careers.

By recognizing the efforts of dedicated civil servants, the commission fosters a culture of excellence within the public service.

The Federal Civil Service Commission has built a reputation for conducting its recruitment and promotion exercises with the highest level of integrity and transparency.

This legacy has made it one of the most respected institutions in Nigeria.

However, the rise of fake recruitment schemes has necessitated more stringent measures to protect the public from falling victim to fraudsters.

In recent years, the commission has implemented digital systems to improve its recruitment process and reduce the risk of impersonation.

The introduction of an online application portal has streamlined the process, allowing candidates to apply from the comfort of their homes.

This innovation has also made it easier for the commission to track applications and communicate with applicants directly, reducing reliance on third parties who may exploit the process for personal gain.

Hassan assured the public that the commission remains committed to upholding its principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability.

He urged Nigerians to disregard any information about recruitment that does not come from the commission’s verified channels.

“The Federal Civil Service Commission will continue to ensure that its processes are open and credible,” he stated.

“We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.”

While the commission has not announced any fresh recruitment exercises, its history suggests that when the need arises, the process will be conducted with the same level of professionalism and integrity that has defined its operations over the years.

Nigerians are advised to remain patient and wait for official announcements from the commission.

The Federal Civil Service Commission has consistently demonstrated its commitment to merit-based recruitment and career advancement for civil servants.

Its efforts to combat fraud and protect the integrity of its processes underscore the importance of maintaining public trust in the institution.

By addressing the recent rumors and promoting transparency, the commission reaffirms its role as a pillar of excellence in the Nigerian civil service.

In conclusion, the Federal Civil Service Commission remains a symbol of professionalism and accountability in Nigeria’s public sector.

Despite challenges posed by fraudulent actors, the commission continues to uphold its mandate of fostering a productive and efficient workforce.

The public is urged to stay informed and rely solely on verified information from the commission’s official channels to avoid falling victim to scams.
