FG begins payment of minimum wage arrears to federal workers

President Bola Tinubu’s administration has commenced the payment of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants across the country.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) in Abuja.

According to the OAGF, many federal government employees have already received the payment, while others are expected to get theirs soon as disbursement continues.

The wage award, which is part of the government’s commitment to cushioning the effects of recent economic reforms, will be paid in instalments of ₦35,000 over a five-month period.

Meanwhile, in reaction to recent reports claiming that the wage award was excluded from the 2025 budget, the OAGF clarified that Accountant General of the Federation, Babatunde Ogunjimi, never made such a statement.

The office stressed that Mr. Ogunjimi has not addressed the press on the matter and reaffirmed the government’s promise to fully settle the outstanding arrears.
