Launched in 2023 by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, the project aims to tackle electricity deficits in critical military facilities. Furthermore, the Army has reported substantial advancements in the first phase, including successful installations in key locations.
Active construction has already taken place in Ikeja, Lagos; Abakpa, Enugu; and Adekunle Fajuyi cantonments, alongside major barracks in Abuja. The Chief of Army Staff has urged contractors to accelerate efforts, ensuring timely completion of subsequent phases. Meanwhile, the project has demonstrated financial benefits, generating ₦769 million between August 2024 and April 2025. This revenue highlights the program’s role in promoting fiscal accountability.
The Federal Government considers the initiative vital for resolving persistent power challenges in military installations. By improving energy efficiency, the project enhances operational readiness across the Armed Forces.
