Alabama faces widespread exposure
In Alabama, the NWS has issued two separate fire weather watches covering large portions of the state, from the northern Tennessee Valley region to central and southern areas.
The northern watch, in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, includes counties such as Lauderdale, Madison, and Jackson. Winds are forecast to reach 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, while relative humidity could fall to approximately 23%.
A second, broader watch extends across central and southern Alabama, including major counties such as Jefferson, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa. In these areas, humidity levels may drop even further to around 19% intensifying fire risk under similarly windy conditions.
