According to boxing journalist Michael Benson, Wilder, 39, has decided to retire, citing a desire to prioritize his family and business ventures.

The report has triggered tributes from fans and pundits praising his remarkable career.

Wilder, nicknamed “The Bronze Bomber,” rose to prominence in the late 2000s, quickly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.

His devastating punching power and aggressive fighting style earned him a reputation as one of the most formidable knockout artists in the sport.

Throughout his career, Wilder achieved numerous accolades, including becoming the WBC heavyweight champion, a title he held from 2015 to 2020.

He successfully defended his title on 10 occasions, with his most notable victories coming against Luis Ortiz, Dominic Breazeale, and Bermane Stiverne.

Wilder’s retirement comes on the heels of a recent losses to Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker and most recently, to Zhilei Zhang in June 2024.

The defeat to Parker marked his second defeat in 12 months.

Despite this, Wilder’s legacy as one of the greatest heavyweight champions of his era remains intact.
