Four people have been killed in a stabbing attack in the U.S. state of Washington, while the suspect was shot dead by a responding police officer, authorities said.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were responding to emergency calls about a man allegedly violating a no-contact order at a residence near Tacoma when the violence unfolded.
According to officials, witnesses began calling authorities around 9:30 a.m., reporting that a man was stabbing people outside the home.
A deputy arrived minutes later, and gunshots were reported shortly after.
Casualties Confirmed
Authorities confirmed that four people were found dead at the scene, including the 32-year-old male suspect who was shot by the officer.
A fifth victim was rushed to hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the attack.
Investigation Ongoing
Law enforcement officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, and details about the circumstances leading to the incident remain under investigation.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said deputies acted swiftly after receiving reports from witnesses, while further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
