From Kano to DDM Villa, Anambra: my experience

My trip from Kano State to Anambra State to represent the Kano State Chapter of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM) at the two-week Capacity Building Workshop at the Diaspora Digital Media Training Academy in Awka, Anambra State, was a memorable experience, full of challenges and special moments, especially since it was my first time traveling to Anambra State.

We left Kano on November 23rd, 2024, around 9 a.m. The road was smooth at first, and the journey was easy as we made our way to Kogi State.

The road from Kano to Kogi was fine, and we traveled comfortably without any problems.

The weather was calm, and the landscape changed from dry areas to greener, more tropical scenes as we headed south.

However, things started to get difficult after we left Kogi and headed toward Anambra.

The road conditions worsened, with deep potholes, rough patches, and sections that were almost impossible to drive on.

At some points, the conductor of the bus had to get out and walk ahead to help the driver. He would signal the driver from a distance, showing where to avoid the biggest potholes or where the road was too dangerous.

It was a bit frustrating, but also amusing to watch the conductor making quick decisions to avoid problems.

Even though the road was tough, the journey was still enjoyable. We kept calm, shared laughs, and chatted to pass the time.

As we neared Anambra, the beautiful views of the countryside reminded me of Nigeria’s natural beauty. Arriving at our destination on November 24th, 2024, felt like a huge relief, and the journey, despite the difficulties, was an experience I’ll always remember.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the organizers of this great event. The Kano State Chapter is always ready and willing to be part of any initiative that promotes our democracy and unites us toward a better tomorrow.

The Capacity Building Workshop at the Diaspora Digital Media Training Academy was a valuable experience for me, and I appreciate the opportunity to have represented the Kano State COPDEM Chapter.

The workshop provided a platform for networking and learning from other participants, and I look forward to applying the knowledge and skills gained to future endeavors.

Despite the challenges faced on the road, we persevered and arrived at our destination safely.

I am grateful for the experience and look forward to future travels and opportunities to engage with others from diverse backgrounds.
