The Federal Road Safety Corps, Okitipupa division has called on erring motorcyclists to register their bikes with the National Vehicle Identification Scheme, in a bid to stem the spate of insecurity in the country.
Expressing the agency’s readiness to impound defaulters, the FRSC Okitipupa division Head of Operation Officer, Mr. Abayomi O. Dada has called on motorcycle riders within and around Okitipupa who are without appropriate registration to duly see that they are properly licensed as a way of curbing insecurity.
“Many motorcycles, if you count 100 bikes, hardly do we get 20 licensed motorcyclists” the FRSC Division Head of Operation said.
“Kidnappers and perpetrators of evil more of the time use motorcycles, because of the high erring road users.”
“We are calling on all owners or users of unregistered motorcycle to bear in my mind that we are henceforth, using the agency’s taskforce, begin a clampdown, for security reason” Mr. Abayomi noted.
The FRSC boss however has said besides for national security reasons, registration and licensing of motorcycles made compulsory for the benefit of owners in case of theft would allow for easy tracing.
