April 16, 2025 – In a proactive initiative, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has announced the Easter Special Patrol.

This strategic deployment of personnel will take place on Nigeria’s highways from April 16 to April 23, 2025.

The primary goal is to enhance visibility and address road obstructions promptly.

Moreover, the operational guidelines for this year’s patrol focus on key objectives that improve road safety.

These objectives include reducing road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries while ensuring swift responses to incidents.

Additionally, the Corps is committed to educating the public about safe driving practices and efficiently removing obstacles from major roadways.

“We are dedicated to achieving the objectives of this special operation through public engagement, rigorous surveillance, and sustained patrol operations,” stated Corps Marshal Mohammed.

He reassured the public of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to road safety.

To support these efforts, the FRSC plans over 200 Mobile Court operations targeting various traffic violations.

These include speeding, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, and mobile phone usage while driving.

Furthermore, additional enforcement measures will address overloading, seatbelt violations, and mechanically deficient vehicles.

Logistically, the Corps will deploy an extensive fleet that includes 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, and 92 ambulances. Essential tools for the operation will feature reflective jackets, traffic cones, tyre pressure gauges, and digital breathalyzers.

Additionally, 23 Help Areas have been established for prompt assistance during the patrol period.

Meanwhile, 15 traffic control camps will monitor gridlock areas, ensuring personnel are available around the clock.
