Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara don assure road users say him government no go slack for providing di correct environment wey go make sure say di lives dey safe for di state.
Governor Fubara give di assurance for Port Harcourt yesterday, as him dey deliver keynote address for town hall meeting with stakeholders on road traffic administration and safety management.
Di meeting, wey Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers Sector Command organise, na part of FRSC 2024 Ember month road safety campaign activities for di state.
As him dey represent di Permanent Secretary for di Office of di Secretary to di State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, di governor talk say e necessary make we sabi di UN Decade of Action for Road Safety, wey dey aim to promote road safety, create safe, inclusive and sustainable streets for everywhere.
He observe say to make Decade for Road Safety work; e get need for di FRSC to make sure say dem dey enforce traffic codes well well to keep di road safe for everybody wey dey use am.
E talk say: “Di way road crash dey increase, and wetin e dey do to life and property during di ‘Ember’ months dey call for serious and urgent action to stop wetin we fit prevent as health, social and economic wahala wey dey come from plenty of dise crashes.

Di Sector Commander, Rivers Sector Command, Inyang Umoh, talk say di FRSC believe say public enlightenment na important tool to change pipo attitude on road safety mata.

“Di need for passengers to talk up against dangerous driving no fit overemphasise, first for dem own safety and also because dem get role to play to save dem own life.
“Dangerous driving dey include behavior like sudden brake, over speed, overtake wey no safe, drunk driving, drive against traffic and so on.
Imagine say you dey sit down for vehicle wey dey go 100km/pH and you dey drive against traffic for Port Harcourt Aba expressway, and one big truck dey just in front of you, well, your guess fit be as good as mine,” e talk.
