The governor of Rivers State Siminialayi Fubara has announced the immediate suspension of Otonye Briggs, the chairman of the local government committee for Akuku-Toru.
The suspension was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesman of the governor, Nelson Chukwudi, on Tuesday, September 17.
Governor Fubara in the statement appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye as the new caretaker committee chairman, effective immediately.
He also directed Briggs to hand over all council property in his possession to the newly appointed chairman.
Meanwhile, this abrupt action the statement added, underscores the governor’s commitment to maintaining leadership accountability in Rivers State.
