Gas explosion rocks Katsina

Agas explosion that occurred at a filling station in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday has destroyed six vehicles.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, who confirmed the incident, said that the explosion was caused by a truck carrying gas cylinders.

The police spokesperson explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area who led a response team to the scene worked in collaboration with military personnel to restore normalcy in the area.

Sadiq-Aliyu, who noted that no life was lost in the incident, said, “Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders fully engulfed in flames at Tamal Filling Station along the Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road.”

Sadiq-Aliyu added, “The joint team quickly implemented preventive measures to protect lives and minimise property damage, successfully extinguishing the fire.”

The police spokesperson also noted that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, had ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion.

He added that the police would provide further updates as the investigation progressed.
