Ashiribo Olalekan, who clinched the first gold medal for Team Kwara in cycling at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, has expressed hope that his performance will earn him a call-up to the national camp.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his victory, Olalekan was visibly elated and optimistic about Team Kwara’s prospects at the festival. He credited his success to the unwavering support of the coaching staff and the collective determination of his teammates.

“The zeal and unwavering dedication of our coach have been a major source of motivation behind my eagerness to deliver gold for Kwara,” Olalekan said.

The young cyclist also voiced strong belief in the potential of Team Kwara, noting that the athletes are taking each event seriously and are united in their goal to bring pride to the state.

“We’re here with one mission—to give our best and win medals for Kwara. Everyone is focused and ready,” he added.

Olalekan’s gold medal not only boosts Team Kwara’s medal tally but also sets the tone for what could be a memorable outing for the state at the Gateway Games.
