Germany kicked off Euro 2024 with a resounding 5-1 victory over Scotland at the Munich Football Arena.

The hosts showcased their prowess with a first-half blitz, scoring three goals and earning a red card for Scotland’s Ryan Porteous.

Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala starred for Germany, with Wirtz opening the scoring in the 10th minute and Musiala doubling the lead nine minutes later. Kai Havertz converted a penalty just before halftime, and Niclas Füllkrug added a fourth in the 68th minute.

Emre Can scored a fifth in stoppage time, while Scotland’s consolation goal came via an own goal from Antonio Rüdiger.

The win marked a perfect start for Germany’s coach Julian Nagelsmann, who has rebalanced the team since taking charge. Scotland, despite their perseverance, were outclassed and will need to regroup before facing Switzerland in their next match.

The electric atmosphere at the Munich Football Arena was palpable, with Germany’s players feeding off the energy of the crowd. The victory sets the tone for Germany’s campaign, showcasing their talent and depth in the competition.
