Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema has reached a major global milestone, teaming up with Thai superstar LISA and Brazilian hitmaker Anitta to release ‘Goals’, the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The announcement was made by FIFA via its X (formerly Twitter) handle, confirming that the trio will also perform the electrifying track live at the World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles, United States.

According to FIFA, ‘Goals’ is now available on major streaming platforms and delivers a vibrant fusion of Afrobeats, K-pop, and Latin pop — a deliberate blend designed to reflect the diversity and global unity of football’s biggest tournament.

The high-energy anthem revolves around themes of confidence, ambition, victory, and celebration. Each artist brings their unique style, with lyrics inspired by football culture and the spirit of global youth. FIFA noted that the concept of “scoring goals” in the song serves as a powerful metaphor for chasing dreams, overcoming challenges, and achieving success.

Since its release, the track has sparked massive global buzz, driven by fan-led streaming campaigns across multiple regions. On Spotify, ‘Goals’ quickly climbed major playlists such as New Music Friday Afrobeats, Hot Hits Nigeria, and Global Pulse, signaling strong international appeal.

The momentum didn’t stop there. The song also became the most-searched new release on Shazam shortly after debuting, gaining impressive traction across Southeast Asia, West Africa, and South America.

Meanwhile, the official music video, which premiered on FIFA’s verified YouTube channel, racked up over three million views and more than 400,000 likes within just 24 hours — a clear indication of its global impact.

Rema’s involvement in the World Cup anthem marks a historic moment, making him one of the few Nigerian artists to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of Afrobeats giants like Davido and Burna Boy. His inclusion further cements the growing global influence of Nigerian music on the world stage.
