The governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has appointed Arc. Dr. Henry Ojobo as the new Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, for a single five-year tenure, effective April 1, 2025.
A statement by the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Mr. Bartholomew Geraga, explained Ojobo’s appointment aligns with the recommendations of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic.
The statement noted that his wealth of experience and exceptional leadership in academia as well as his vast contributions to urban and environmental planning, positioned him as the ideal candidate to lead Benue State Polytechnic into a new era of academic and infrastructural development
Dr. Ojobo, a seasoned academic, administrator, and environmental expert, brings over 20 years of experience in architectural education, research, and professional practice.
Dr. Ojobo holds a Ph.D. in Architecture, specializing in Landscape Architecture, from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
He previously served as the Head of the Department of Architecture and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at Kaduna State University.
With over 50 peer-reviewed research publications, his work focuses on sustainable built environments and human-environment interactions.
He is also an active member of professional bodies, including the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA).
In a related development, the Polytechnic’s Governing Council has also approved the appointments of three principal officers, effective April 3, 2025.
They are Dr. Sunday Apochi as Registrar, Mr. Kase Joseph Chihinen as Bursar, and Mr. Antse Terfa Benjamin as Librarian
