Governor Okezie Ikpeazu: The Best Performing Newly Elected Governor In Igboland

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has commended  all the newly elected Igbo Governors viz Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state , Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state.  

The leadership of the Council praised these Governors for delivering the dividends of democracy to their people since their assumption of office in the last one year.

 The group congratulated all the Governors for their one year in office and urged them to continue meeting the aspirations and yearnings of their people. 

After a poll conducted by the group  as part of its DEMOCRACY DAY ASSESSMENT, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state emerged as the overall best performing newly elected Governor in Igboland. 

The poll covered such areas as infrastructures, security, Education, Health, transparency in Governance, Youth and women empowerment and participation in Government and other vital indices.

The chairman of the screening committee of the poll, Mazi Okemiri Alex congratulated all the Governors and noted that all of them are winners in their own respect. 

He noted that it will be a yearly event which any of the Governors that performs outstandingly will emerge the overall best performing Governor. 

He noted that the group will also announce the best performing Igbo lawmaker by June.

The group also extolled other Igbo Governors that have been on sit in the past years for their achievements. 

In particular the group commended Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state for personally constructing a befitting Secretariate for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a rare feat in the annals of Igbo history.

The group also urged the Igbo Governors to support the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Chief Gary Igariwey in their bid to pilot the affairs of Ndigbo. 

They also suggested the building of an IGBO HALL OF FAME AND CENOTAPH by other Igbo Governors at the Secretariate.

This is to complete the gigantic effort of Owelle Rochas Okorocha in the construction work ongoing at the National Secretariate of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo. 

They threw this challenge especially to Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the best overall performing newly elected Igbo Governor. 

The group also noted that they have set up an Igbo Vigilant Group, IVG to tackle the security challenges in Igboland and appealed to them to support the group.
