Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has declared a state of emergency in the power sector.

This marks a decisive step toward ensuring a stable electricity supply across the state.

The governor made this announcement during the State Executive Council Ministerial Briefing and End-of-Year Review held in Uyo on Wednesday.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) confirmed that this strategic move is part of his administration’s broader agenda to stimulate industrial growth and economic prosperity in Akwa Ibom.

The governor emphasized the crucial role of electricity in achieving the goals of his ARISE Agenda.

This agenda focuses on agricultural revolution, infrastructural development, sustainable industrialization, social services, and education.

Governor Eno highlighted the importance of a reliable power supply for transformative projects such as the aviation ecosystem, seaport development, and the establishment of a medical corridor.

To address this critical issue, the governor announced plans for a Power Summit scheduled for 2025.

The summit will assess the current state of electricity in the state and draft a comprehensive master plan for delivering uninterrupted power supply.

The proposed blueprint will form the foundation of efforts to create an investor-friendly environment in Akwa Ibom.

It will enhance productivity and attract investments to drive economic growth.

Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s vision to deliver 24-hour electricity to businesses and households in the state.

He stated that power is critical to the success of major projects under the ARISE Agenda.

He further explained that electricity drives the economy and attracts investors.
