Gunfire filled the air as police killed 3 armed robbers in Abuja

Shooting and gunfire filled the night air as security forces engaged armed robbers in a deadly operation at Filin-Dabo village, Abuja.

According to a Diaspora digital media (DDM) source, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed that operatives shot dead three suspected armed robbers during the intense security operation.

Shouting from residents alerted authorities before the police, military, and vigilantes launched a coordinated midnight raid on the criminals.

The operation took place on Wednesday night and involved the FCT Police Command, military personnel, and local vigilante groups.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), weapons and incriminating materials were recovered from the suspects.

Adeh revealed that security forces responded to a distress call made at 11:50 p.m. by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division.

Gunfire returns peace

Residents reported hearing shooting and gunfire as the armed gang terrorized the area before security operatives moved in.

The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit collaborated with operatives from the 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilantes.

Security personnel quickly mobilized to the crime scene, determined to confront the criminals and restore order.

As the joint security team arrived, the six-member gang attempted to flee into nearby bushes while launching an ambush.

Shouting erupted from both the criminals and security operatives as bullets flew during the intense gun battle.

The security team responded with superior firepower, overpowering the criminals and ensuring they could not escape.

Three suspects sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were later pronounced dead at Kubwa General Hospital.

The remaining three suspects suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment under police custody.

Residents reported hearing prolonged gunfires as the operation unfolded, with the criminals desperately trying to fight back.

The raid also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with a defaced serial number, three magazines, and 19 rounds of 7.62 ammunition.

Other weapons seized included two locally made pistols, knives, a taser, a mobile phone, and charms believed to be for protection.

Shouting was also heard from the surviving criminals as they were apprehended and transported for medical treatment.

Police chief hails operatives

The Commissioner of Police commended security forces for their swift action.

He assured that criminals would find no refuge in the FCT.

He praised the residents of Filin-Dabo for their cooperation and urged them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

Security sources revealed that the criminals had been operating in the area for weeks before their reign of terror ended.

The police warned that anyone attempting to disrupt public peace in the FCT would face a similar fate.

Shouting and panic among residents have subsided following the operation, as security forces continue surveillance in the area.

Police authorities reaffirmed their commitment to tackling crime in the region.

They urged the public to provide timely information to law enforcement agencies.

Gunfire, once associated with fear during the criminals’ attacks, has now turned into relief as the community regains its sense of security.

Residents applauded security personnel for their bravery in confronting the armed robbers despite the danger involved.

Police operatives remain on high alert, ensuring that no remnants of the gang reorganize or pose further threats.

The Commissioner reiterated that such decisive operations would continue to deter criminal activities across the FCT.

As the dust settles in Filin-Dabo, security forces are preparing for further crackdowns on criminals across Abuja.

The gunfires may have marked the beginning of the raid, but it ended with the silencing of a dangerous armed gang.
