Gunmen Kill Farmer’s Son, Abduct 60-Year-Old Man in Kaduna Community Attack
DDM News

Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits have attacked Doka Maijama’a village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 2, 2025, claiming the life of a young man and resulting in the abduction of his father.
The assailants reportedly stormed the residence of 60-year-old Malam Isiya Abdullahi at about 2:00am, wielding machetes and other deadly weapons.
During the violent encounter, the victim’s 25-year-old son, Suleiman Isiya, attempted to fend off the attackers in a desperate bid to protect his father.
Witnesses say Suleiman was brutally stabbed multiple times during the scuffle.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was confirmed dead shortly after arrival due to the severity of his wounds.
The attackers succeeded in whisking away Malam Isiya Abdullahi, whose whereabouts remain unknown as of press time.
Local security sources confirm that a joint operation comprising Nigerian Army troops and other security agencies is ongoing to track the assailants.
As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has not released an official statement on the incident.
However, efforts are reportedly underway to stabilize the affected area and secure the safe release of the kidnapped farmer.
The motive behind the gruesome attack remains unclear, with no group claiming responsibility.
Residents of Doka Maijama’a have been left in shock and grief, with many describing the community as “under siege” by rising insecurity.
Locals lament the increasing frequency of such attacks and the persistent threat posed by bandits across Chikun LGA and wider Kaduna State.
Some community members have voiced concern over the slow response of security agencies, despite repeated calls for increased protection in the region.
Human rights activists and civil society organizations are also calling for a comprehensive security overhaul in Kaduna and neighboring states.
They emphasize that rural communities are bearing the brunt of Nigeria’s insecurity crisis, with frequent abductions, killings, and displacement.
The late Suleiman Isiya is being mourned as a hero by villagers, many of whom remembered his bravery and devotion to his father.
A local leader who spoke anonymously said, “Suleiman died trying to save his father, his courage must not be forgotten.”
This attack adds to the growing list of violent incidents in Kaduna, where banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and armed invasions have become almost routine.
Observers warn that the government’s failure to tackle root causes, such as poverty, weak intelligence networks, and porous forest borders, is fuelling the crisis.
The Kaduna State Government has yet to comment publicly on the Doka Maijama’a tragedy, though residents expect swift action to prevent further bloodshed.
Many citizens are now calling on federal authorities to declare a state of emergency in bandit-infested zones across the Northwest.
As the search for Malam Isiya continues, the community remains tense and on edge, fearful that more attacks could follow.
The situation highlights the urgent need for coordinated security reforms and greater accountability among local and federal institutions.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) will continue to monitor developments and report updates on the condition of the abducted farmer and security operations in Chikun.
For now, the people of Doka Maijama’a village mourn a fallen son and pray for the safe return of his kidnapped father amid a wave of unrelenting violence.
