DDM News

OWERRI — Relegated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Heartland FC, has announced July 21, 2025, as the official resumption date for players and staff ahead of the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the directive was made public through a statement signed by the club’s team manager, Maduabuchi Osuorji, on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, all players and members of the technical crew are expected to assemble at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21.
The notice emphasized strict adherence to professionalism, discipline, and punctuality as the club begins its pre-season preparations following a disappointing relegation from the NPFL during the 2024–25 campaign.
Osuorji stated, “On the directives of our technical manager, Emmanuel Amuneke, this is to formally inform all players and technical staff of the club that resumption of duties is scheduled as follows: Monday, 21st July, 2025, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, by 7 p.m.”
He added that every team member is expected to report in full readiness as the club begins “a new phase,” reiterating that punctuality and professionalism will be strictly enforced throughout the preparation period.
The announcement marks the beginning of a rebuild process for the Owerri-based club, which is determined to return to Nigeria’s top-flight football league after suffering relegation at the end of last season.
Heartland FC, a historically dominant force in Nigerian football, will now compete in the second-tier NNL, where competition is expected to be fierce among clubs seeking promotion.
Technical manager Emmanuel Amuneke, a former Super Eagles winger and respected coach, is expected to play a pivotal role in restructuring the team and guiding them through a successful promotion campaign.
Heartland’s fans and club faithful are optimistic that the club’s early start and firm commitment to discipline and readiness could signal a strong comeback season.
Further updates on player signings, friendly matches, and official NNL fixtures are expected in the coming weeks as the 2025–26 season draws closer.
