Hoodlums Kill Governor’s Aide with Machete

Malam Sadiq Gentle, a Senior Special Reporter to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has died following a vicious machete attack.
The incident happened at his home in Kano.
He passed away early Thursday, August 7, at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.
Governor Yusuf has condemned the killing as “barbaric and unacceptable.” He ordered security agencies to launch an immediate manhunt for the attackers.
In a condolence statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the late Gentle as a loyal, peaceful, and professional media aide.
“The news of his death hit me with deep sadness and anguish,” the governor said. “He was not only a dedicated public servant but also a man of integrity. His gruesome murder is a tragedy and an affront to our collective humanity.”
The governor assured Gentle’s family and colleagues that the state government stands firmly with them. He promised justice will be served.
Security officials have yet to announce any arrests. However, the governor’s order has put pressure on law enforcement to act quickly.
Gentle’s murder has sent shockwaves through the media and political circles in Kano. Many have taken to social media to mourn his death and call for justice.
This killing adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria.
