The Anambra State Command of the NSCDC has deployed 1,190 personnel across the state.

This move aims to maintain peace during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and counter possible hunger protests, Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathers.

Security coverage includes Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, and major marketplaces.

The deployment follows intelligence reports about potential disruptions during the festive season.

The command’s spokesperson confirmed that personnel were drawn from various divisions and tactical units.

They are tasked with maintaining law and order throughout the Sallah period.

The deployed officers will ensure 24-hour surveillance before, during, and after the celebrations.

Special attention will be given to protecting public utilities and key infrastructure.

The NSCDC is committed to safeguarding lives and property across Anambra State.

The Corps has warned individuals planning to incite unrest or criminal acts to desist.

While peaceful protest is lawful, violent or destructive actions will not be tolerated.

Anyone found disrupting public peace will face the full weight of the law.

The NSCDC urged religious and community leaders to support its peacekeeping efforts.

Residents are advised to be vigilant and cooperate with security personnel on duty.

Suspicious activities should be reported immediately to the nearest NSCDC office.

The Corps will also use surveillance technology to monitor public spaces effectively.

It is working closely with other security agencies for statewide coverage.

Similar security deployments are underway in other Nigerian states, such as Kano.

In Kano, 3,100 NSCDC officers are securing prayer grounds and public centres.

These efforts aim to ensure safe celebrations amidst current economic and social tensions.

The public is encouraged to celebrate peacefully and support the Corps’ mission.
