NSCDC set to commence 2025 recruitment exercise

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced plans to begin the recruitment of qualified Nigerian youth into the corps in 2025.
This was disclosed by the NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, during the inauguration of the NSCDC Bwari Divisional Office on Wednesday in Abuja.
Audi revealed that the corps has received approval to recruit employable Nigerians, though the specific date for the commencement of the exercise will be announced to the public in due course.
“We are preparing to recruit officially, and we appreciate Mr. President for the approval to recruit well-behaved Nigerians into the service,” Audi stated.
He also commended the Bwari Area Council for constructing the divisional office, noting that the facility will enhance security in the area.
“The corps is proud of you and poised to cooperate with you. We will give you all necessary assistance in reciprocation of your action,” he added.
Audi urged other area divisions to emulate Bwari and Kwali divisions, which have provided new buildings for the corps.
He emphasized the existing synergy between security agencies, highlighting the complementary roles played by NSCDC personnel.
“We perform complementary roles, which is why after the arrest of certain suspects, we hand them over to the appropriate authorities while ensuring civility,” he explained.
He also noted that credible information from residents has helped the corps avert several security threats.
In his remarks, the FCT Commandant of the Corps, Olusola Odumosu, expressed gratitude to Bwari Chairman Dr. John Gabaya for constructing a befitting divisional office for the personnel.
Odumosu praised the chairman’s provision of necessary furniture and office equipment, describing it as “the icing on the cake.”
He also highlighted some challenges faced by the division, including the maintenance and fueling of operational vehicles, and appealed for more support.
“I assure you that now that the division has a better facility to operate from, we will deploy more personnel and working tools,” Odumosu said.
He further revealed that the corps has created two additional divisions, two area commands, and several observation posts since his assumption of office.
“These moves are aimed at getting closer to the people, understanding the peculiar security situations at the local levels, and ensuring more result-oriented operational planning,” he added.
Odumosu also disclosed that the corps has received land allocation for the construction of the Gwagwalada Divisional Office and is nearing completion of building facilities in the newly created Durumi division, Chika division, and a temporary structure for the Jabi division.
