China says no third party will disrupt the China-Russia ties

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday said ties with Russia are a “constant in a turbulent world.”

An online foreign media reports that Wang made this comment while addressing a press conference in Beijing, China.

He said a mature, resilient, and stable China-Russia relationship will not change due to events, nor will it be disrupted by third-party interference.

This stance is rooted in a deepening strategic alignment between the two nations, which has been evolving over time.

Their cooperation is driven by shared interests, including economic ties, energy imports, and a mutual desire to counterbalance Western influence.

China, in particular, benefits significantly from its energy imports from Russia, with 19% of its oil and 25% of its coal coming from its northern neighbour.

While some may view the China-Russia relationship as an alliance, experts suggest that it is more accurate to describe it as a “durable alignment”.

This alignment they say, is based on shared interests and perspectives.

This partnership has already demonstrated its resilience, with China maintaining a neutral stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The strength of this relationship was further underscored by Chinese President Xi Jingping’s statement.

Xi’s statement emphasized that the partnership with Russia is a “big priority” for China, despite potential fallout from the war in Ukraine

February 24, 2025 marked the third anniversary of the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

High-level delegations from Russia and the US held talks on the Ukraine crisis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 18, 2025.

Both sides agreed to appoint special representatives to continue talks between the two countries.

According to the china online media, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lin Jian addressed a regular news conference on February 24, 2025.

“Since the escalation of the Ukraine crisis, China has stayed in communication with relevant parties and been committed to building consensus for ending the conflict and paving the way for peace talks.” Lin said.
