Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has thanked God and the people of the state following his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke described the result as a victory for democracy and a reward for his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare and security.
He also adopted a conciliatory tone, saying there was “no victor, no vanquished” and expressing hope that his main challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), would accept the result.
“I am expecting the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call me and congratulate me,” Adeleke said.
The governor also thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a successful election and attributed his victory to his faith in God.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11, giving the incumbent a 66,252-vote margin.
