The Minister of Labour and Employment and former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige has decried rumour that he slumped and died during National Assembly budget defence.

Dr. Ngige described it as a ruse and failed attempt by politicians to malign his stability and personality.

On his Facebook page he wrote: “Dear Friends , please disregard the wicked tissue of lies, contained in an online publication about an unfortunate incident said to have taken place today at the National Assembly and in which I was said to have been involved.

“I am currently not in the country much less being at the National Assembly.

“I have since Monday, February 15, 2016 been attending the 42nd Ordinary Session of the African Regional Labour Advisory Council, taking place in Zambia.

“The meeting ends tomorrow. indeed, as the Vice Chairman of today’s session, I had the privilege of moderating as well as giving the vote of thanks on behalf of other African countries.

“I thereafter presented a gift also on their behalf to the Vice President of Zambia, Her Excellency, Mrs. Inonge Wina. [See below]

Ngige also spoke to SUN correspondent on board aircraft from South Africa described the rumours of his collapse as laughable and a failed cannon targeted at him by never do well politicians for selfish interest.

“Emma, I am not in Nigeria, I attended special morning session function in Zambia and am airborne to South Africa where I will be coming into the country tomorrow, the rumours in social media and other quarters has to show how petty people can be, I don’t see it as anything but I wish to tell those who still play this outdated and obsolete politics of bitterness to embrace change and know that it is no longer business as usual”

He expressed explicit confidence in President Buhari’s administration to weed the country off of corrupt leaders who have retarded velocity of development in the pass and maintained that his ministry shall continue to play the complimentary role of promoting good governance in the country.

Responding, a rights organisation “Coalition of Citizens for Change [CCC] condemned the maligning rumour in the strongest terms, saying:

“The false story in circulation, purporting that Dr. Chris Ngige (Onwa), The Honourable Minister for Labour slumped during budget defence in the Senate shows how desperate these people are.

“They are clutching at anything just to bring the administration to disrepute. How wicked can their machinations be? How unstructured can these lies be. It shows them for who they are.

“Sitting in their rooms and fabricating such malicious lies, while the honourable minister, hale and hearty is representing our dear country in an important assembly taking place in Zambia.

“As they wish him evil, Good will visit him for he strides in righteousness.

“We wish the honourable minister, excellent health to continue his good work and service of the nation.”
