IBADAN, Nigeria — Popular broadcaster Oriyomi Hamzat has claimed that he played a significant role in encouraging Governor Seyi Makinde to contest the Oyo State governorship election, saying he deserves recognition for contributing to the governor’s emergence and subsequent political success.
Hamzat made the claim while reflecting on his relationship with the Oyo State governor and the events that preceded Makinde’s entry into the state’s political contest. The broadcaster said his involvement went beyond mere political support, arguing that he was instrumental in encouraging Makinde to pursue the governorship.
According to Hamzat, he recognised Makinde’s potential at a time when the businessman was considering his political future and encouraged him to seek the state’s highest political office.
