Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has expressed confidence in his ability to deliver good governance to Nigeria within a four-year term.

According to him, he doesn’t need more than four years to turn things around in Nigeria if given the chance to lead.

Obi emphasized that a single four-year term would be sufficient for him to showcase his governance style and implement meaningful reforms.

He believes this would allow him to focus on delivering results without the burden of seeking re-election.

Obi’s priorities include restoring order and ending killings through increased investment in policing and intelligence.

Improving school infrastructure and access to quality education.

Empowering Nigerians through job creation and targeted economic policies.

Obi has promised to cut the cost of governance, fight corruption from day one, and ensure his family members stay out of public funds.

He believes Nigeria can begin to stabilize within two years of his administration, laying the foundation for a new nation built on transparency, accountability, and productivity.

Obi’s proposal has been presented to a coalition of opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Senate President David Mark.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed skepticism about Obi’s chances of becoming president, questioning his past governance experience.

Obi’s one-term pledge and growing acceptance in the North may signal a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Obi’s proposal is seen as a call for change, with many Nigerians seeking a new direction and better governance.
