Football legend Yaya Toure claims he was tasked with recommending new signings by Manchester City’s board during his time at the club.

He revealed that he suggested signing David Silva, Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, and Samir Nasri, all of whom went on to become integral members of City’s team.

In a Sky Sport interview monitored by Diaspora Digital Media, the former Ivory Coast international revealed the club gave him the opportunity to discuss potential signings with the board, leveraging his experience and knowledge to recommend players.

“Man City gave me the key to be able maybe to discuss with some of the people in the board and said, because there was, in that period, there was the period where they were asking, Yaya, which player you wanted, because of my experience, my knowledge.

“I was mentioning, Aguero, Samir Nasri, Silva as well. I was mentioning, Dzeko. A lot of players, you know,” Toure said.

He was a clinical finisher with a physical presence and link-up play. Dzeko made 130 appearances, scoring 72 goals. His partnership with Sergio Aguero formed a potent attacking duo.

Sergio Aguero (2011-2021) won five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, and a League Cup during his time at Manchester City.

He was known for his decisive goals, clinical finishing, and record-breaking performances. Aguero scored 260 goals in 389 appearances, making him City’s all-time leading scorer.

His iconic goals, including the last-gasp winner against QPR, etched his name in City folklore.

Samir Nasri (2011-2017) achieved a Premier League title and a League Cup win during his time at Manchester City. He was a creative playmaker with vision and a goalscoring threat.

Nasri made 129 appearances, scoring 27 goals. His partnership with Aguero and Dzeko formed a potent attacking trio.
