A US-based Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after expressing her frustration with life abroad and revealing that she misses the lively and chaotic atmosphere of Nigeria.

In a video shared online, the woman said she was tired of the quiet lifestyle in the United States and wanted to return home.

“I want to go back to Nigeria, I’m tired of abroad. This place is too quiet and boring. I miss ‘Agbero’,” she said.

The woman described the contrast between life in the US and the familiar energy she associates with Nigeria, particularly the bustling atmosphere around motor parks, markets and busy streets.

She also complained about the high cost of everyday services abroad, including hair styling, while lamenting the lack of social interaction she has experienced since arriving.

According to her, the quietness has become difficult to adjust to, as she has not had people approaching or interacting with her in the way she is accustomed to back home.

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media.

Some Nigerians welcomed her sentiment, saying her experience reflects the homesickness many people in the diaspora experience after spending extended periods abroad. Others jokingly encouraged her to return home if she truly missed the Nigerian lifestyle.

However, some commenters reminded her that the same things she misses about Nigeria come with challenges, including heavy traffic, power outages, insecurity and the everyday struggles associated with life in the country.

The discussion has once again highlighted the complicated feelings many Nigerians abroad have about home: while they may appreciate the stability and quieter lifestyle overseas, they can still miss Nigeria’s social energy, spontaneity, community and unmistakable street culture.
