Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has stirred fresh debate online after sharing his views on education and success, suggesting that formal schooling is not always a guarantee of financial prosperity.
Speaking candidly, the actor said there may be “some truth” to the popular phrase “school na scam,” pointing to his personal experiences as an example.
“There’s some truth to ‘school na scam’. I’m doing better than all my lecturers,” he said.
He went on to recount a recent encounter with one of his former professors during a flight, noting the contrast in their travel classes.
“I met one of my professors months ago. I was in business class while he was in economy,” he added.
Jim Iyke further argued that many of the wealthiest individuals in Nigeria did not necessarily follow traditional academic paths, suggesting that success can come from alternative routes such as entrepreneurship and talent-driven careers.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions across social media. While some agreed with his perspective, citing real-life examples of successful individuals without formal education, others pushed back, emphasising the long-term value of education beyond financial gain.
