Terror bandits on Sunday evening, launched a vicious attack at the Tipper Garage in Mpape town, Abuja, leaving a trail of pain.

The criminal elements reportedly killed an Imam, Ahmad Maidara, and kidnapped a transporter, Alhaji Salisu Danfulani.

The unfortunate attack occurred around 8pm, just as members of the garage community were leaving the mosque after completing their final prayer of the day.

According to local resident Nasiru Ahmad, the armed criminals had strategically positioned themselves along escape routes. As Imam Maidara attempted to escape through an alternate path, he was ambushed and fatally shot on the spot.

Another individual, a member of the garage, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The attackers approached the garage through the mountainous terrain, a route they also used to elope after the attack.

National President of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), Comrade Hamza Muhammad confirmed the sad event.

He added that the body of the late Imam was taken to his residence in Gwagwa town, Abuja, where he was laid to rest the following day.

This latest attack underscores the growing insecurity in the region, as residents continue to grapple with the persistent threat posed by banditry.
