The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will end on Sunday, July 26, urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final hours to register or update their voter information ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a post on X, the electoral commission reminded Nigerians that registering to vote is a key requirement for participation in the next general election.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” INEC said.
“Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026.”
The commission advised prospective voters who have yet to register to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any of its state and local government offices before the deadline.
INEC also noted that the exercise covers requests for voter transfers, correction of personal information and the replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The close of the exercise marks the end of a nationwide voter registration campaign carried out in phases over the past year.
The first phase began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, followed by physical registration on August 25.
By the end of that phase in December, INEC had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 completed through physical enrolment.
The second phase, which ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, added another 3,748,704 completed registrations nationwide.
INEC launched the third phase of the exercise in May before extending it by two weeks in July to give more eligible Nigerians an opportunity to register.
With the registration window now closing, the commission urged eligible citizens not to delay, stressing that voter registration remains essential for anyone intending to cast a ballot in the 2027 general election.
