Legal practitioner and human rights activist, Inibehe Effiong, has condemned Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for his response to the political crisis.

According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), Effiong expressed disappointment over Fubara’s reluctance to take legal steps against those allegedly undermining his authority

Effiong questioned why the governor had not challenged the situation in a Federal High Court.

He stated that Fubara appeared unconcerned despite the severity of the crisis affecting governance in Rivers State.

Effiong mentioned seeing Fubara leaving a church service in Port Harcourt, smiling and dressed in white.

He criticized the governor for not acting decisively while external forces allegedly attempted to remove him from office.

Effiong insisted that Fubara must assert himself and take control of the political situation in his state.

He also expressed disappointment over the silence of the 36 state governors amid the national political crisis.

According to Effiong, state governors should take action instead of making poetic statements that do not address the problem.

He criticized their response to the recent declaration of a state of emergency in Nigeria.

Effiong stated that the governors’ lack of intervention shows their unwillingness to confront political interference.

He also highlighted the division among South-South governors as a sign of political instability in the region.

Effiong argued that the crisis in Rivers State reflects the broader issue of state institutions being manipulated by political interests.

He described the situation as evidence that Nigeria’s political structures have been hijacked by vested interests.

The crisis in Rivers State has led to attempts to impeach Governor Fubara and allegations of federal interference.

Critics believe Fubara’s perceived inaction is worsening the situation rather than resolving it.

Effiong stated that Fubara must stop handling the situation passively and start defending his mandate.

Political analysts warn that the crisis could set a dangerous precedent for governance in Nigeria.

Some observers argue that governors must protect their positions from external political influence.

Many Nigerians are watching to see if Fubara will take decisive action or continue his current approach.
