Israel strikes Iran’s notorious prison where opposition figures are held

An Israeli airstrike hit Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison a short while ago, according to reports from Iran.

The opposition Iran International said the strike hit the entrance gate to the prison, apparently to allow prisoners to escape.

Evin Prison is a large and heavily fortified complex where Iran has incarcerated political prisoners, journalists, academics, human rights activists, and others.

Though, the attack is coming after Tehran on Monday launched barrage of missiles and drones at Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel’s Defence Ministry said its military is now striking Iranian government targets in Tehran.

Other targets include the security headquarters of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guards, the city’s Palestine Square, and the paramilitary Basij volunteer corps building – which is a part of the Revolutionary guard.

“The Iranian dictator will be punished with full force for attacking the Israeli home front,” the ministry said.

In Israel’s most recent strike in Iran, hundreds of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members were killed inside the targeted buildings, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post.
