Israeli airstrike hits home moments after man returns
DDM News

A residential building in Rafah, southern Gaza, was hit by an Israeli airstrike on Saturday, leaving a man critically injured.
According to Diaspora Digital Media (DDM), the victim, identified as Hamdi al-Najjar, had returned home just moments before the missile struck his house.
His wife, who had just left for work, came back to find their residence in ruins and her husband buried beneath debris.
Health officials in Gaza confirmed that the airstrike hit a civilian home without prior warning.
Dr. Munir al-Bursh, the Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, revealed that the strike occurred immediately after al-Najjar dropped his wife off.
“Just minutes after returning home, a missile struck their house,” Dr. Al-Bursh stated in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Neighbors and emergency teams rushed to the scene and managed to pull al-Najjar from under the rubble.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently in critical condition with severe internal injuries.
Medical professionals attending to the victim said they are working tirelessly to stabilize his condition.
Footage captured at the scene showed a leveled building surrounded by rubble, smoke, and chaos.
Adjacent houses also sustained damage from the blast, leaving residents traumatized.
The Israeli military has not issued a statement specifically addressing this strike.
However, it maintains that operations in Gaza target Hamas infrastructure and operatives.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns over civilian casualties in the escalating conflict.
They argue that the increasing number of attacks on homes, schools, and hospitals indicates a pattern that may violate international law.
International observers and humanitarian groups have called for an independent investigation into repeated strikes on civilian zones in Gaza.
Residents in Rafah and across the Gaza Strip continue to live under the fear of sudden bombardment. Many families now see no place as safe, not even their own homes.
Since the escalation of hostilities in October 2023, thousands of lives have been lost, and the destruction of civilian infrastructure has intensified.
Calls for an immediate ceasefire have grown louder, with multiple rights groups demanding accountability for what they describe as indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force.
As the war drags on, citizens like Hamdi al-Najjar become tragic symbols of a conflict that shows little sign of abating.
