Jide kosoko says-it’s your choice to say yes to sex-for-role offer

Veteran Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko, has addressed the issue of the sex-for-role practice within the Nigerian movie industry.
He made this open in an interview with the honest bunch podcast on march 23 2025.
Kosoko urges actresses to take a firm stand and reject such proposals if presented to them
Kosoko on the Honest Bunch podcast emphasized that no actress should feel compelled to accept a sex-for-role offer.
He strongly advised,
“If anyone presents you with something you’re not comfortable with, simply say no.”
However, the actor acknowledged that if an actress willingly agrees to such a proposal, it is her personal choice.
He added that;
“If the disposition of an actress to a sex-for-role proposal from a filmmaker is positive,
“such a person can go ahead, saying “that means you want to dance to his tune.”
Jide says “If you choose to accept, that’s a personal decision,
Kosoko further explained that those who fall victim to such situations should take responsibility for their decisions and refrain from publicly blaming others for their acts.
He stated, “If someone says, ‘Come to my bed,
“and I’ll give you this role,’
“and you refuse, then you’ve made your choice.
“They can’t force you.
“If you choose to accept, that’s a personal decision, and it’s not the business of the world.”
He clarified that he is not saying it was right to have introduced that, but if the person says it’s fine then that’s the person’s business.
The actor also shared his insight into the lengths some actresses go to in their pursuit of fame.
He revealed that some enter the industry with the intention of using their relationships to advance their careers.
“I know of some popular actresses, even well-known ones, who came into the industry with the goal of sleeping around to gain recognition and fame.
I’ve even heard of a magistrate involved in this,” Kosoko said.
